Alumni, Donors Honored at An Evening of Distinction & Determination

For the first timein three years, the Kettering community came together in person Oct. 20 to honor its decorated alumni and high-level donors at An Evening of Distinction & Determination at the Townsend Hotel in Birmingham.

“Congratulations, again to our amazing award recipients and to our donors who moved into new giving societies,” said Jennifer Patterson, Vice President of University Advancement and External Relations. “This is a great event that showcases the outstanding achievements of our alumni and recognizes the long-lasting impact donors have on our students.”

The University recognized seven distinguished alumni during the event, which included a cocktail reception, dinner and 90-minute program. Harris Ng ’95 hosted the event.

The honored alumni included:

EODD AwardeesDistinguished Alumni Award: Dan Hancock ’73, Retired Vice President, Global Strategic Product Alliances at General Motors.

Extraordinary Leadership Award: Judith Judson ’95, Vice President, Head of U.S. Strategy and Head of Hydrogen at National Grid.

Engineering Achievement Award: Betsy Dell ’89, Professor of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering Technology at Rochester Institute of Technology.

Entrepreneurial Achievement Award: Dr. Cleamon Moorer Jr. ’99, Co-founder and President of Partners in Wellness Management LLC and Chief Executive Officer of American Advantage Home Care Inc.

Civic Achievement Award: Essence Wilson ’05, Co-founder and Chief Strategy Officer of Communities First Inc.

Alumni Service Award: Louanne Allison ’82, Independent Health Insurance Broker at Molina Healthcare.

Young Alumni Award: Elizabeth Taylor ’14, Director of STEM at the Milwaukee School of Engineering.
