Cover Some of Your Cost with Grants

Grants can come from the federal government, state government or the University.  Please apply for grants you might be eligible for and be sure to meet application deadlines.

Federal Pell Grant

The Federal Pell Grant is awarded to eligible undergraduate students seeking their first bachelor’s degree. The amount you receive will depend not only on your financial need but also on your Cost of Attendance, your status as a full-time or part-time student, and your plans to attend school for a full academic year or less.

Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG)

Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grants (FSEOG) are awarded to undergraduate Pell Grant recipients with exceptional need.

Grant amounts are based on program funding, and priority is given to students whose FAFSA is received by March 30 (date subject to change based on funding limits). Subsequent awards may be available later in the year as funding permits.

Ƶ Opportunity Grant (KUOG)

The amount is determined by an institutional formula. Grant amounts are based on program funding, and priority is given to students whose FAFSA is received by May 1. Subsequent awards may be available later in the year as funding permits.

The Michigan Competitive Scholarship/Michigan Tuition Grant (MCS/MTG)

The MCS/MTG is administered through the State of Michigan for Michigan residents only. The amount is determined by a formula that takes into consideration other gift aid and parent/student contribution. Funding is limited. The priority date for completing the FAFSA is May 1 to be considered for the MSC/MTG.

The Michigan Achievement Scholarship (MAS)

The MAS is administered through the State of Michigan. In order to be considered for this award, you must be part of the high school Class of 2023, a Michigan resident with FAFSA EFC of $25,000 or less.
