Ƶ's Atwood Stadium
Ƶ's Atwood Stadiumis an 11,000-seat stadium.It's located in the historic Carriage Town district area of downtownFlint, Michigan. The University received ownership of the stadium in 2013. In 2015, Ƶ oversaw $2 million in renovations to the restrooms, press box, concourse, exterior and playing field. The new FieldTurf surface has permanent lines for regulation high school football, soccer and lacrosse.
Ƶ's intramural and recreational sports programs use the field. Since 2019, the Flint City Bucks soccer team and Powers Catholic High School's football, boys and girls soccer, boys and girls lacrosseand marching band programs share the stadium as their home field.
The annual Vehicle City Gridiron Classic also opens the high school football season at Ƶ's Atwood Stadium, with six to eight teams competing each season.
TheFlint Institute of Musichosts an annualIndependence Dayconcert in the stadium, which is coordinated with Flint's fireworks display thatis launched from theChevy Commonspark located to the south, immediately across theFlint Riverfrom the stadium.
The Atwood Stadium Races, formerly the Tuuri, is a set of road races -kid's dash, 5K and 10K, that begin and end at the stadium and is hosted by theCrim Fitness Foundationin partnership withƵ. The races are typically held on the fourth Saturday in July. It is an official Crim Training Program voucher raceand is known as a training race for the Crim.Racers can choose to run the "duo", both races.
